Design is underway for a new facility for North Seneca
Ambulance Corps. North Seneca Ambulance's new base will be located in the
village of Waterloo,
New York and
will feature many ecologically friendly systems and components. The
entire facility will be heated and cooled using a geothermal water source heat
pump system. This system generates the energy for heating and cooling
from the Earth's ground temperature instead of burning fossil fuels. The
facility will also feature a photovoltaic (solar) array to generate the
electricity this facility requires to operate during the day instead of pulling
power from the grid. High efficiency window
glazing, lighting, and occupancy controlled switching are additional “green”
features included in the project. This
project can serve as an example of energy efficiency and ecologically conscious
building practices for emergency facilities.
This is a preliminary rendering of the project.
Also in design is a classroom and visitor center for Seneca
Meadows Landfill. This building will
provide space for educational programs sponsored by the landfill and local
schools as well as a display area to feature models and graphics of technology currently
employed at the facility as well as plans for the future. The building design will likely feature a
glass curtain-walled atrium space and cedar log siding. Also being explored is the possibility of
using recycled tire chips generated and used in the landfill process as an
alternative to imported material for the sanitary septic system. Below is a preliminary rendering.
Victor Self Storage, located on 200 School Street in Victor, New York
is currently in its second phase of construction. The first phase was completed
in December of 2005 and has been welcomed to the community with enthusiasm. The business has been a success and continues
to grow to meet demand.
When
complete, the self storage facility will contain six buildings in all with 370
units ranging in size from 5’X10’ to 12’ X30.’ A retail area is available for
the purchase of boxes, tapes, and cutters. The complex is a state-of-the art
facility with almost 30% of its non-combustible storage space climate
controlled for temperature and humidity. The property is fully fenced with an
access control gate and monitored by video cameras around the clock.
Construction
features the steel pre-engineered Star Building System with a synthetic stucco
exterior and seam metal roofing. Its curbside appeal is enhanced by arch top
windows and landscaping. Check out photos of this and other projects on our Project Showcase page.
